Waldeinsamkeit

This book was the winner of the 2020 Bookbuilder’s scholarship. After choosing a word that’s not easily translatable from its native tongue to English, the challenge was to choose 2 texts that compliment each other and explore ways to convey its complicated meaning.

The texts used in this book are a letter from German poet Rainer Maria Rilke, and an excerpt from English poet and lover of nature, David Thoreau.
